That's what I enjoyed most too: really teaching people a trade. Especially when you notice there aren't many people left who choose a trade where they work with their hands. These days pretty much everyone goes for a computer, but a great trade where you can make something is so valuable. That's what I try to get across to the apprentices here too.’’

Why do you enjoy teaching people so much?

‘’Here we've got people from all kinds of backgrounds with all sorts of stories. One is a career changer, another is a young lad who's mainly still figuring out what he wants. That's what makes it so much fun. We often see people who don't really know what they want. Do they want to go into installation? Or carpentry after all? Because at JobXion we work with instructors from every field, we can really work out together with the apprentice what suits them best.’’

Can you tell us a bit more about the training centre?

‘’We work really well with the account managers and recruiters. They select candidates who are motivated to learn and then go on to work for our clients. These candidates take a course (tailored to the client), which means we can basically give them a kickstart before they actually start working for our clients. That way they already have some baggage. Sometimes it's completely new to them, but sometimes they're candidates who've worked in the trade before. Then it's mostly a refresher course. Here they learn things like installing a consumer unit with separate circuits, fitting the boiler and mounting radiators. Ventilation and a toilet with a washbasin are practice material too. We also cover how to behave. If someone needs to polish that up a bit, we help them with it as well. How do you talk to a customer properly? They usually take that on board from us, precisely because we have that experience.

What I love most is when someone walks out of the training centre with a real goal and a certain confidence to get to work at the client's. That's what you do it for, right?’’

Once you've successfully completed this programme, you can go to work through us at one of our many clients. Of course, we do this in consultation with you. We stay in close contact with our clients and also ask them where we need to train you. Do we end up with a good match? Then you're off to work!

touch

Got a question? Get in touch with us.
